Apron 001

Apron 001

The apron is part of a woman's clothing set, placed over the skirt and tied at the back of the. There are two strips of bleached linen, sewn in the middle, crinkled at the top and sewn into a seam passing into drawstrings for tying. At the bottom of the apron is a brown striped pattern in a horizontal arrangement with stylized floral motifs: a single wavy line in the form of a herringbone topped with half-flowers embroidered at the top of the waves, and full flowers placed in the arches. Teardrop-shaped flower petals are arranged in rosettes. Below, a second brown stripe pattern, which is a decorative edge of the apron bottom: embroidered hanging arches and above them rhythmically placed motifs of half-flowers and concentric circles and dots, the styling of which imitates dandelions.

The pattern is a compilation of archaic motifs of a spiral line and a rosette, on the basis of which floral embroidery was formed, which was a later form of decorating fabrics.

Flat embroidery, characteristic of the Tarnobrzeg region.
