Skirt 003

Skirt 003

The skirt (local dialect: fartuch) is part of a lady’s costume, sewn together out of four strips of bleached fabric, gathered at the waist sewn into a trim extending out as fastening straps on the front.
This dress features opulent embroidery along half of its length. The bottom edge is scalloped and embroidered. A broderie anglaise parallel broken line runs above. Above the line there is a wide ornamental strip with edges formed out of acute triangle shapes embroidered with small broderie anglaise flowers Drawn thread-work was used on the fabric between these lines in a honeycomb manner. It features large, fantastically stylized and geometric flowers of a four-leaf clover with their pistils in drawn thread-work. A fantastically modelled broderie anglaise broken-line belt runs above this entire ornamental section.
White floss was used for the entire embroidered decoration.
