Skirt 002

Skirt 002

Apron – a skirt, part of a lady's formal dress, a cultural aspect of the Lasovian Kolbusz-Raniżów subregion. Known as fartuch in the local Lasovian dialect. Hand-sewn out of homespun linen fabric. A fastening strap is attached to the waist to fasten the skirt. The bottom is decorated with handmade cutwork embroidery. A wavy line runs along the bottom edge formed by white thread-trimmed eyelets. Line curves feature floral motifs in random order – multi-petal flowers with broderie anglaise pistils and petals, multi-petal flowers with broderie anglaise pistils and white thread flat-embroidered petals. Some of the curves are empty.
Above that ornamental pattern, the skirt is decorated in repeated white-thread embroidered multi-leaf stems, sometimes crowned by a bunch of grapes, sometimes accompanied by a single multi-petal flower with a broderie anglaise pistil in the form of a separate, round trimmed eyelet.
Above there is a wavy line (repeated) formed by white thread-trimmed eyelets and flowers in the curves, analogously to that at the bottom of the skirt.
