Tablecloth 002
Tablecloth 002
An altar cloth, hand sewn using homespun cotton fabric. Blue thread embroidery decoration. A horizontally oriented symmetric ornamental floral pattern extends along the two shorter sides and one of the longer sides. There are vertical motifs reminiscent of a fruit cross-section with two unfurled leaves at the bottom at the highest points of an undulating line. Two such leaf motifs adorn each sloping section of the line together with spirally coiled shoots and leaves on long stems (reminiscent of fern leaves). Edges of the ornamental pattern feature small decorative talon shapes. The altar cloth was embroidered using the honeycomb stitch technique.
