Tablecloth 001

Tablecloth 001

The tablecloth was made of a skirt (made of linen cloth), sewn by hand, decorated with white punched embroidery and flat embroidery with stitches of satin, knitted, hemstitch and string. It consists of eight parts, connected by a kind of serrated hemstitch. All edges are finished with triangular serrations.
At the bottom, along the longer edges, there is a strip of embroidery consisting of the following elements: small triangles, holes with the tops downwards, large serrations made of holes, a series of small flowers (the petals are satin, the centre is made by trimming a round hole). Interestingly, there is a row of large hearts (filled with hemstitch) running parallel to the serrations, surrounded by holes and dots. Above each heart, there are two twigs with small leaves (stalks made with a string, leaves with satin). Between the twigs, there are small triangles made of holes (pointed upwards).
