Collar 001

Collar 001

The collar was an element of lady’s attire worn for special occasions, sewn onto an outer garment band - blouse or jacket. In the shape of a three-quarter circle, the 8 cm wide collar is made of doubled-up white fabric. Collar edges feature white zig-zag trim. Red and blue embroidery along the outer collar edge; cross-stitch. The decorative pattern is made by a band of 37 rosettes of identical shape, arranged alternately: a rosette with four red petals in the middle and blue side petals followed by a rosette with four blue petals in the middle and red side petals. The pattern comprises a pair of twin rosette shapes, each on a square footprint, embroidered around the lady’s collar edge. Red and blue, cross-stitch embroidery. Rosettes, centred, geometric: eight-petal flower motif, rhombus-like shape, similar to a crystalline snowflake. Rosette dimensions: 15 mm x 15 mm. The collar was made and embroidered by its owner, Karolina Futoma (1892 - 1969), a resident of Pantalowice.
