Corset 005

Corset 005

Maiden’s corset, known as krakowski, is embroidered with beads and sequins, with 23 flaps by the waistline. The corset was worn over a blouse, during the summer months, as part of formal dress, during religious (processions, acolyte assistance) or family (wedding) ceremonies. Karolina Buczek née Król (1902-1997) owned the corset. She had 5 corsets, all made by herself. Made out of woollen brocaded emerald fabric, cotton lining. Hook and eye closing system. It features dense floral embroidery, beads and sequins on the front sections and a pattern on the back of the corset, around the shoulders, waistline, by the neck and on the flaps. The pattern is made of a cherry flower branch (?) and three fruits.
It shows a seven-petal cherry flower (?) made out of ash-grey, crystal and opalescent brown beads as well as three red round fruits made out of red beads.
