Gate 001
Gate 001
At the end of the 19th century, in the border area between the Boykos and the Lemkos, in the Osława and Solinka basin, on the shacks painted with brown paint made of burnt iron clay with a natural binder, white motifs were applied with lime on the faces of quoins and door panels painted with yellow clay. These are simple geometric and circular connected with the symbolism of the sun. In the museum's archives, there are photographs from the interwar period of shacks from Komańcza and Smolnik painted in this way.
On the gate leading to the threshing floor there is a white horizontal stripe decoration on both sides; in a wavy line with dots at each curve. Between the wavy lines there are: on both sides on the edge, a herringbone tree motif in the middle of the sun (two circles with "X" in the center with dots between the arms and, on the axis, a circle filled with dots - circles surround the rays). All motifs are surrounded by dots.
