Sukmana overcoat 001
Sukmana overcoat 001
The pattern presented appears on a sukmana overcoat (long outer garment, with flap cuffs, without a collar, with a back cut from one piece of fabric, to which the sides are sewn) made of very thick, brown cloth decorated with twisted woolen strings (in red and saffron color) and pompoms (made of red and saffron wool, called "flowers"). The decorative strip starts at the waistline level, runs parallel to the front, goes around the collar and ends at the waist on the second flap of the sukmana overcoat.
It consists of four strings aligned parallel to each other, with strings arranged in a zigzag fashion between them. This decoration is completed with "flowers": red and yellow. The "flowers" also decorate the "blamkas" (thick folds), forming three lines converging diagonally, one of which ends in a five-pointed rosette. The sukmana overcoat is one of the most recognizable elements of the men's garment from Rzeszów.
