Chest 002
Chest 002
Wooden chest for storing clothes and valuables, made in the carpentry center in Sokołów Małopolski, very popular among the Lasowiaks’ until World War I. The box of the chest is supported on four trapezoidal legs with wheels attached. The chest is additionally equipped with a hinged lid and an iron lock cover. It is a typical single-field chest, i.e. with one decorative field, with a floral motif in the center. Two shades of brown predominate in the colors of the chest with a flattened background. On the lighter background, a rectangular ornamental field was distinguished with a wide strip of a contrasting color of darker brown, trimmed with a thin white line. The field is filled in green, with a painted bunch of stems finished with red buds or white leaves. The lid of the chest is also decorated with an ornament similar to the one on the front.
