Katana jacket 001

Katana jacket 001

The katana jacket is made of maroon wool, insulated, lined with flannel. A type of women’s jacket, with no collar. The edges of the katana jacket are trimmed with black ribbon, fastened with 5 buttons. The garment was decorated with: embroidered cuffs, in the front part covered with rich colored beaded embroidery, with a predominance of black beads, and a modest bead embroidery on the two front patch pockets. The katana jacket as a winter outer garment was worn in a set with a shoulder scarf held in the center. The cuffs were visible from under the scarf, which is why this part of the katana jacket was particularly decorated.

The colorful, beaded embroidery, spread over a quadrangular surface, approx. 20 cm high x 16 cm wide, with a pattern repeated four times. Its shape resembles a palmette, palm or lily motif. Flower cups are directed downwards in relation to the entire sleeve. The contours of the flowers are marked with an application of black satin string. The interiors of the contours are filled with beads. The shape of the palm tree is comprised of 6 oblong narrow flowers and two wider leaves, made of black beads, accentuated with bright beads. The surface of the leaves is filled with beads on a grid plan.
